Day 4

Kia ora koutou katoa,

Wow, that was a full on day, some wonderful learning.

I felt quite anxious through most of it, but, I am thankful and grateful to Hinewa and all the team from Manaiakalani for your aroha and manaakitanga in guiding me through it all. It’s always great to have a few successful moments.

I have used google maps to show my tauira where the source of their awa begin and where they flow out to. They were very excited to see this. However, todays session gave me more of an understanding of the options and how to use other tools to show them much more.

Setting up my Blogging sites for school are an ongoing issue for me just due to little experience and needing some one on one with the set up process. However, I gain a little more confidence with each attempt.

I still need to get my head around most of our learning today but I know with more practise I’ll get there.

Remembering everything has been a challenge for me therefore the step by step support we receive in the break out rooms is extremely helpful and so too are the videos that we can refer back to.

Experiencing how to collate data into a spread sheet and seeing the data in graph form made it easy to read and understand. I look forward to using these tools to improve how I document and improve my teaching practice.

Ngā manaakitanga,

Waimaria Hodges-Paul.

DFI Day 3 media

Kia ora koutou katoa,

In our bilingual unit we have been learning about our tuakiri -identity. The wānganga with Hinewa creating a digital pepeha was great with lots of creative ways to build and share the pepeha of our tauira. I’m excited to complete what In have been working on today.

Our in class inquiry topic is about the maunga we whakapapa to as our pepeha starts with our maunga. i have been searching for digital stories online that pertain to individual maunga and found a few, some weren’t the best. However, today I found some really good ones on youtube that I can link to my planning.

Thank you to everyone for the support I receive at each session. Slowly but surely I am becoming more confident navigating my way around google drive.

Tēnā koutou tēnā tātou,

E mihi ana ki a koutou ngā rau rangatira, ngā kai hautu o DFI. He kaupapa whakahirahira tēnei. Nei ra te mihi

mo te manaakitanga i uhi mai ki runga i a mātou e ako ana.

I am very grateful to all the team and participants for the learning and support received throughout the first two sessions of DFI.

My confidence is improving when navigating my way around Google chrome. My skills were minimal and I was very nervous on the first day. However, after todays session I am able to do a lot more.

I can now split my screen. I have a better understanding of the tools that are useful for taking short cuts. Tamming my tabs, recording a conversation and much more.

At times it was all a little overwhelming, however our coaches and breakout groups very helpful and supportive. Knowing how to share screen was such a helpful tip and Natalie and Vicki were very patient, friendly and skilled.

Thank you all so much.

There is a so much more I need to review, but I I am on a journey and have enjoyed the learning and making new relationships thus far.

He mihi mutunga kore xx
